People and Environments by Master Chan Kun Wah Experience of Feng Shui shows that it is like a shadow falling from an object; without one the other cannot exist, like yin and yang they are inextricably linked. Good feng shui is the reflection of the good environment on the people who live in its shadow. This is why so many people who live in a capital city work for the government, or people who live near a market work at the market. It is the shadow that is cast on them. People who live by and work with the sea become clever. This is because they must learn how to trade in order to do business, but also because they have to deal with a force stronger than they are, over which they have no control. In the Victorian era in Britain there was a very strong Navy, and the Empire was strong too. However people who live in a forest or near the mountains are less exposed to such constant danger as they have more control over their environment. The inhabitants of such areas become less cunning but more kind. People who live in dry mountainous areas are better warriors and can be barbaric although they also possess great bravery. This is the reflection of their environment on them. The climate of an environment (its geography) is also linked to feng shui. People in hot climates are often lazy. Temperate climates produce people who are calm. The weather is comfortable, so their temperament is more even. In very cold countries people always appear strong and full of confidence. This is due to the magnetic pull or polarisation of the Earth. People who live in an environment with good feng shui with a nice mountain and a good river, are more likely to be beautiful. But the opposite is also true - if there is a jagged river the people will be impatient and angry. If the mountains are jagged or irregular the people in that area are sneaky, crafty and untrustworthy. If the water is also irregular then the people will not be faithful or have good relationships. All of this relates to the reflection of the feng shui on the people. Nowadays there is a trend for the homeowner to decorate their home to their own taste. All too often this includes the use of very individual and dramatic styles, using and mixing strong colours, shapes and furniture to change the look and shape of the house as well as using light to create supposedly exciting effects. This will affect the inhabitants' way of thinking and feeling as well as their concentration and may make them agitated or make them expect something for nothing. These things affect young people particularly quickly. In such environments people's moods can be very changeable and they do not have the strength to cope with their problems. They may attempt suicide or possibly harm others. They will never be calm or even-tempered in this environment. This type of decoration is not recommended in feng shui, as it does not conform to feng shui principles. These examples are not superstition but are gained from a recognition and understanding of the environment of the individual. In this way it must be recognised and understood that feng shui is a feature of daily life |
